life as a field qc enginner...part 1

just to share my experience (although not as much as otai2 out there)..

field engineer...sound nice and maybe all of you thought wow..big bucks..work hard..n so on..

not like u think....engineer..is same like "runners"..n it ranked as a "kuli" of management team..
labors are "kuli" of the foremans..n foremans are the kuli of enginners..n so on..the list wont stop at all..even u are the project director..u still be a kuli..haha..

for all of u that wants to make money..dont ever be an engineer..better to be a businessman orsales man..or make ur own bisness..

but if u want to make ur hands dirty and being "kene maki"..then engineer is the right job for you.

i started as a jnr enginer..actually knows nothing abt o n g engineering..i know what is
valve..pumps..cad..cam..machining..but that u dont have to go get any degree also u can know..

i join my comp and as a jnr engr..comp has to educate us just to be as competent as other..so i wentfor a training for 2 weeks in korea..in doosan mecatech..

it was a new world for me...new big machines..big cutters..welding..n so on..

koreans..haha..out of work they are nice..during work..just cover ur ears...they will maki u..they will even tap ur helmet with anything..i was "di pukul" on my helmet by 8 pound
hammer..haha..why?..bcoz i missed read the pressure gauge..i read it in bar..but the specs said in kgf..haha..what the f...bar n kgf..is nearly the same..

we engrs can think like that..but at site n actual thing..the workers dont know how to calculatefrom bar to mpa..or bar to atm..they just follow what u said..

so from miss reading the gauge...to thightning bolts..and so on...im not into all these works..but i like seeing ppl welding..smelling the fumes (bad for ur health)..and the sparks..haha..nice...

after my 2 weeks training..got back to office..told my bos i want to know welding..then he said no!...before knowing welding..know the material first..then how to inspect..then ill send youfor welding course...

damn..long way to go..so they sent me to mill maker...nippon steel...just to see the iron fab maker..the furnace n so on...for 1 month i was there..

then went to school again..for inspection technology...n at last..welding engineering..

welding is soo deep that even u study for several years also u wont get to know welding..haha..horor eh..

so my life as a qc / welding engineer started...

first 3 years been sent to a project in YOC..yokohama operation centre..that is project executionteam for projects that will be constructed in 1-1/2 years time.

project execution...main thing is to design, select vendors/fabricators, procure, inspect and shipthe materials/vessels/equipments to job site. also called as EPCC contractor..engineering, procurement, construction and commision contractor.

so during this E & P time, all paper works, all discussion had to be finalised with the client and vendor. any descrepancies, any discussion, any waivers had to be confirmed during this stage.
if any of these haven't been finalized and come to job site..it's very difficult to turn around andsay to client that "hey, i dont agree". they will just say, u didn't say anything that time and it means that u accepted it. very2 rare cases to turn things up side down when coming to job site.unless the impacts are to schedule, costs and to the client it self.

so i was in the E&P team for 3 years..running around the 36 storey building for dwg confirmation,spec confirmation and so on.

only this time i know NACE, ASME, ANSI, JIS, AWWA, API and so on...all theese specs i didn't know before. only ASME i knew before in a conference with JSME in Okinawa.

the life in E & P as an engineer was not as good as it sounds. u have to work with all vendors around the world.

YES! u have to wait for the US ppl to wake up, and u have to wait untill they sleep. there was 12 hours difference bettween asia and us..so imagine until what time u have to stay and communicate with them.

so sometimes come back home late is usual, but i tend not to stay back and try to go (escape i can say)between 7 to 8...

during that period, the experience was not very good but the knowledge of reading specs, understandingit and "klentong" your client was an asset.

do u all know what is buku merah?..its a rules and requlations and ur rights as a malaysian citizen when being asked or stopped by the police..here are some important things.

i got a copy in bm only...n if u have in english..pls share.

remember..these are your rights...i know its hard to say no..but these are your rights..

n remember...u have the right to be silent when being asked...hehe..can we do this?..

1. APABILA DIBERHENTIKAN POLIS

1.1 Sekiranya polis tersebut tidak memakai pakaian seragam tanya beliau mengenai kad kuasa beliau

1.2 Kad Kuasa Polis

Warna Merah: Anggota polis tersebut telah digantung. Beliau tidak mempunyai apa-apa kuasa untuk berbuat apa-apa. Anda tidak perlu mengendahkan beliau.

Warna Biru: Polis yang berpangkat Inspektor dan keatas.
Warna Kuning: Polis yang berpangkat dibawah Inspektor
Warna Putih: Polis Simpanan

Ambil perhatian nama dan nombor anggota polis pada Kad Kuasa Polis.

1.3 Di dalam Pakaian Seragam ambil perhatian nama dan nombor anggota polis pada pakaian seragamnya.

1.4 Kenderaan Polis

Ambil perhatian tentang nombor pendaftaran pada kereta peronda, motosikal atau kenderaan polistersebut.

2. APABILA DISOAL OLEH POLIS

2.1 PengenaIan Anda

Anda cuma perlu berikan nama, kad pengenalan dan alamat sahaja.

2.2 Seandainya ditanya soalan-soaian lain Anda boleh bertanya, "Adakah saya ditahan? "

2.3 Bilakah anda ditahan

Anda ditahan apabila anggota polis itu? menjawab "ya" pada soalan di atas? beliau tidak membenarkan anda meninggalkan tempat tersebut atau ingin membawa anda ke balai polis? apabila anda digari

Jika anda tidak ditahan anda boleh berlepas dari tempat tersebut atau enggan mematuhi arahanbeliau untuk ke balai polis atau tempat lain jika diarahkan.

2.4 Bilakah anda tidak boleh ditahan

Polis tidak boleh menahan anda semata-mata kerana anda berkemungkinan menjadi seorang saksi danpolis ingin mengambil kenyataan saksi daripada anda (Kenyataan saksi/112)

4. PENAHANAN OLEH POLIS

4.1 Apabila ditahan tanya, "mangapa saya ditahan?" Setiap tahanan yang dibuat tanpa dimaklumkan sebabnyaadalah satu tahanan yang salah.

4.2 Jangan melawan Anggota polis mempunyai hak untuk menggunakan kekasaran yang munasabah sekiranya andamelawan.

4.3 Tanya - "Ke balai mana encik hendak membawa saya?"

Anggota polis tersebut hendaklah membawa anda dengan segera ke balai polis berdekatan dan tidak ke tempat lain.

4.4 Apa perlu dibuat setelah dimaklumkan tentang tangkapan.

Anda mempunyai hak untuk membuat panggilan telefon. Buat panggilan kepada keluarga, peguam atau PusatBantuan Guaman. Maklumkan mereka:-
? Anda telah ditangkap.
? Masa, tempat dan sebab-sebab tangkapan.
? Pengenalan anggota polis yang menangkap.
? Balai polis kepada mana anda dibawa.

4.5 Apa terjadi selepas tangkapan?

Anda boleh ditahan sehingga 24 jam:
? Di balai polis atau
? Di lokap balai polisdengan tujuan untuk membantu siasatan polis.

7. PEMERIKSAAN BADAN TANPA TAHANAN

7. 1 Bilakah ia boleh dilakukan

Sekiranya anda berada di tempat (sebagai contoh: karaoke / kelab) di mana polis sedang melakukanserbuan atau mencari sesuatu (sebagai contoh: dadah berbahaya), polis berhak untuk melakukan pemeriksaan badan/beg anda tanpa menahan anda. la hanya boleh dilakukan dengan kehadiran pegawai polis yang berpangkal tidak kurang daripada inspektor,

7.2 Apakah yang perlu anda lakukan

- Jangan benarkan polis untuk memasukkan tangan mereka ke dalam saku atau beg anda.
- Kosongkan saku /beg anda di hadapan polis secara sukarela untuk memastikan anda dapat ngawasi barangan anda.

Keluarkan barangan anda satu demi satu. Setiap kali, sebut sebagai contoh "purse", "kunci", "kadpengenalan" dan sebagainya. Apabila saku / beg anda kosong, terbalikkan saku I beg tersebut

7.3 Hak-hak anda

- Wanita hanya boleh diperiksa badan mereka oleh pegawai polis wanita sahaja.
- Setiap pemeriksaan badan perlu dilakukan dengan penuh sopan (sebagai contoh:bahagian sulit tidak boleh disentuh).
- Tidak ada undang-undang membolehkan anda dibogelkan.

9. SOAL-SIASAT OLEH POLIS SELEPAS DITAHAN

9.1 Kenal pasti pegawai polls yang menyoal-siasat anda. Pastikan nama I pangkat pegawai polis yang menyoal-siasat anda.

9.2 Hak memilih untuk berdiam diri
Polis lazimnya akan memulakan perbualan ramah mesra (sebagai contoh: soalan-soalan mengenai keluarga anda, kawan-kawan dan sebagainya). Anda harus bersopan. Jangan khuatir untuk berdiam diri. Itu adalah hak anda.

garu n giru

in malay..garu is..scratching?...n giru..i dont know what is that.

yesterday my guy called me garu mohd..i just looked at him..and say ha?..

at the same time i was "menggaru" my back bcoz just came back from site and with the insulationblankets..made from fibre..n it was itchy..haha..dont touch any fibre..ull be like a monkeyscratching here n there..

i asked him what is garu..garu means respected person..same like "sir" or "mr" in telugu..
in tamil is taleiva..in hindi is guru..n so on..

i asked him what is "garu" that is scratching..in telugu it is "giru"..

man im confused..garu..giru..guru..all seems the same to me..

anyway..now i know one more vocab..that is garu..giru..n guru..haha..

just to share with ya all..so that next time ppl call someone "garu siti"..dont go n scratch cik siti..or ull get slapped in the face..haha..

its seems that malay vocabs comes from all over the world..india..europe..asia..africa..or otherwise..i dont know..

we let the ppl in language history decide that..

most of our words comes from hindi n arabic..i gues..coz some time these ppl talk..i can understandeasily..

one more precious moment and knowledge in the desert...
